Free gives you the full game to level 5 in the Forge. The GM Suite ($10/mo) adds the hosted toolset to build and run your world: the Virtual GM Notebook, maps, generators, world-building, the VTT, and party tools. Tools only, the content you use is content you own.

No subscription needed. The Character Codex, Core Rule Book, Sourcebook, and adventures are one-time purchases, and you can also buy individual pieces (a subclass path, genotype, spell, or item) a la carte. Buy once, own forever. Every physical book includes the digital version free, and the first five levels are free to play in the Forge.

What's the difference between Patreon and subscribing?
Patreon funds development and gets you behind-the-scenes access: dev logs, design votes, playtest PDFs, and your name in the credits. A subscription unlocks the GM toolset in the Forge: maps, generators, world-building, and campaign tools. Neither one gates game content. Books and content are bought separately and owned forever.
Do I need both?
Not at all. Patreon is for shaping development. A subscription is for the GM toolset. Books and content are one-time purchases. You can do any, all, or none. The core game is free.
Can I use the character creator without an account?
Yes! You can start creating characters right away. An account lets you save your characters and access them across devices.
Can I cancel anytime?
Absolutely. No contracts, no lock-in. Cancel your subscription or Patreon anytime and you keep access until the end of your billing period. Anything you have purchased stays yours.
Will my characters be deleted if I downgrade?
Never. Your characters are yours. If you exceed the Free tier's 5-character limit after downgrading, you'll keep all existing characters but won't be able to create new ones until you're within the limit.
Can I buy content without a subscription?
Yes. That is the standard way to get content. Books, PDFs, and individual pieces like a subclass path, genotype, or spell are one-time purchases you own forever. The first five levels are free to play. No subscription is ever required for content.
Can my players use content I bought?
Yes. If you are the GM and you own it, your players can use it while playing in your game, no extra purchase needed. Bring the book to the table and the whole group plays. Players who want to build their own characters or run their own games outside your table can pick up the content themselves whenever they like.
How do Patreon and the Kickstarter relate?
Patreon supports ongoing development. The Kickstarter will fund the physical printing of the four core books. Active patrons will get exclusive perks when the Kickstarter launches — sign up above to be notified.
Prices listed are net amounts exclusive of applicable taxes calculated at checkout. The GM Suite subscription renews automatically. Purchased books and content are yours to keep. Cancellation takes effect at the end of a subscription term. Patreon memberships are managed through Patreon and subject to their terms. See our Terms of Service for full details.
