Questions
What's the difference between Patreon and subscribing?
Patreon funds development and gets you behind-the-scenes access — dev logs, design votes, playtest PDFs, and your name in the credits. Subscriptions unlock features in the character creator — more characters, content drops, GM tools, and early access. They're complementary: Patreon is about shaping the game, subscriptions are about using the tools.
Do I need both?
Not at all. Patreon is for people who want to support and influence development. Subscriptions are for people who want expanded creator tools and content. You can do one, both, or neither — the core game is free.
Can I use the character creator without an account?
Yes! You can start creating characters right away. An account lets you save your characters and access them across devices.
Can I cancel anytime?
Absolutely. No contracts, no lock-in. Cancel your subscription or Patreon anytime and you'll keep access until the end of your billing period.
Will my characters be deleted if I downgrade?
Never. Your characters are yours. If you exceed the Free tier's 5-character limit after downgrading, you'll keep all existing characters but won't be able to create new ones until you're within the limit.
Can I buy content without a subscription?
Yes! Printed books, PDFs, and individual content pieces like subclasses and spells are available a la carte at any tier — no subscription required.
How do Patreon and the Kickstarter relate?
Patreon supports ongoing development. The Kickstarter will fund the physical printing of the four core books. Active patrons will get exclusive perks when the Kickstarter launches — sign up above to be notified.
Prices listed are net amounts exclusive of applicable taxes calculated at checkout. Subscriptions are provided under limited license and renew automatically. Cancellation takes effect at the end of a subscription term. Patreon memberships are managed through Patreon and subject to their terms. See our Terms of Service for full details.
